SUMMARY:RESISTING BIG OIL - INDIGENOUS STRUGGLES FOR LAND AND DIGNITY IN PERU
DESCRIPTION:*** Sept 4\, 19.30 h Forum building B0404\, Campus Wageningen University *** \nOn September 4\, we will have the honour to meet three indigenous leaders from Peru who are resisting Big Oil and have alternative proposals for their future. \nOUR VISITORS ARE: \nAurelio Chino Dahua : Quechua leader of the indigenous federation FEDIQUEP (Quechua Indigenous Federation of the Pastaza river)\, whose 22 communities are located along the Pastaza river in Loreto\, Peru. \nRobinson Sandi Hualinga: Kichwa leader of the Indigenous federation OPIKAFPE (Organization of the Indigenous Amazonian Kichwa Communities of the Peru-Ecuador Border)\, whose 5 communities are located along the Tigre river in Loreto\, Peru. \nAurelio Piñola Hualinga is the Achuar leader of the indigenous federation FECONACOR (Federation of the Native Communities of the Corrientes River Basin)\, whose 13 communities are located in the Corrientes river basin in Loreto\, Peru. \nWHY ARE THEY HERE? \nOil extraction by Pluspetrol has led to large-scale pollution in the territories of the indigenous Achuar\, Kichwa\, Kukama\, and Quechua communities in northern Peru. The oil company discharged huge amounts of toxic wastewater for years and failed to maintain its outdated installations and pipelines\, leading to frequent oil spills. As a result\, toxic substances such as cadmium\, barium\, and lead have contaminated the soil\, rivers and groundwater. Over a period of fifteen years\, the company contaminated nearly two thousand different locations across the Amazon region. \nThis contamination has had devastating consequences on the local ecosystem\, poisoning fish and game stock\, degrading drinking water\, and threatening biodiversity. It directly undermines the food security and health of the indigenous population\, who depend on the land and waterways for their livelihoods. Although Pluspetrol ended its operations in the area in 2015\, it has refused to clean up the environmental damage and compensate the affected communities. \nIndigenous groups have submitted a complaint against oil company Pluspetrol NL at the OECD (the club of ‘rich’ countries). More information here. \nThe Dutch OECD contact point will publish its Final Statement on the complaint on September 3. \nThree representatives of these groups will share this journey with us through images and words and we will talk about their demands to the Dutch government and what’s next. \nJoin us on September 4 at 19.30h in Wageningen for this very special event organised by Agroecologie Netwerk NL\, Stichting Boerengroep and Oxfam Novib.

Waar ruimte is voor ontmoeten en experimenteren met samen-leven en een ander economisch systeem. \nBBO streeft naar multifunctionele landbouw: samenwerking met meerdere ondernemers op één erf. DESCRIPTION:Ben jij al begonnen om je boerderij fossielvrij te maken en kringlopen te sluiten? Wil je weten hoe andere boeren hieraan werken? En hoe jij zelf kan bijdragen aan de verandering naar een ander voedselsysteem? Kom dan naar het boerenvuur bij Voedselgaard Kleverland. \nTijdens dit boerenvuur gaan we aan de slag met een klus op de boerderij\, wisselen we (ondertussen) praktijkervaringen uit en gaan we rond het kampvuur dieper in gesprek over onze zoektocht naar oplossingen voor de problemen waar we tegenaan lopen. Meino Smit komt ons inspireren en prikkelen met zijn ideeën over de landbouw van de toekomst en onze rol als agro-ecologische boeren daarin. Kom dan naar dit boerenvuur waar Philip ons mee neemt in de wereld van microben\, fotonen\, mengsels en brouwsels die bijdragen aan een humusrijke bodem in zijn voedselbostuin en diepgaande inzichten mbt no-dig. \nWe wisselen met elkaar ervaringen uit over het maken van microbenmengsels\, turfvrije compost/potgrond en andere experimenten. Maar\, hoe zorgen we goed voor onze lichamen in een samenleving  die ons pusht altijd meer te doen\, in een systeem wat gebouwd is voor en door mannen. \nDit boerenvuur is speciaal voor vrouwen\, trans\, non-binaire en andere FLINTA* mensen die op het land werken. Onder facilitatie van body-worker en Shiatsu beoefenaar Paloma gaan we samen onderzoeken wat de impact van het boerenleven- en boerenwerk op onze lichamen is. Hoe kunnen we het werk minder zwaar maken? Hoe gaan we om met mentale of sociale druk? Hoe houden we ons lichaam op lange termijn gezond?\nEr is tijd om deze vragen in groepsverband\, alleen\, en 1-op-1 met Paloma te bespreken. \nTijdens het boerenvuur zijn er 15-min slots voor een prive-Shiatsu- sessie met Paloma. Shiatsu is een vorm van lichaamswerk waarbij gebruik wordt gemaakt van duimen\, vingers\, handpalmen\, ellebogen en knieën.
